Laurent Gaude offers a novel whose reading is very simple short sentences that tells us the life and thoughts of a small group of French soldiers. Jules share on leave, leaving his companions in misfortune on the front while the voices and "cries" of these continuing it. He quickly run the misunderstanding of the "back" facing the violence of the fighting. For Barboni, Messard, Ripoll, Castellac, the doctor or the Gazé is the hell of the trenches, shell rain, fear of attacks, the dehumanization of soldiers ...
