In the field, I go every year around 50t km, mainly the Navi is active. So far I can on experience with TomTom, Navigon, Becker and various navigation solutions for smartphones recourse.
For Tomtom I was not happy with the service and the last offer PC software, Becker was quite awkward to use, so I found me a few weeks ago this as very good advertised Garmin.
The operation is relatively well solved, except for the fact that you do not get suggestions as you type appear in places and road Took selection. I had been so accustomed.
The build quality is good, though the suction cup could be a bit bigger, as the Navi from time to time by the wipers drops when high temperatures or humidity are in the game.
However, the main point of criticism is the navigation itself. The route guidance is very "strange", sometimes you get, although the fastest route should be calculated, a longer route proposed, as the example of TomTom or Navigon was calculated in parallel. In practice, the Navi shows if you do not the "Garmin" Route travels, then while the TomTom Route travels suddenly converts and also the example. selected Tomtom Route switches and then show a much earlier time of arrival!
Likewise, it is not only in one instance, the Garmin instructs me in the city to leave the main road, and then a few hundred yards ahead forwards again in the same main street, for no apparent reason.
POI to be used in petrol station search a horror! The gas station brands stated are hardly ever that I had to learn, for example, Leidig in finding a BP petrol station. It has happened that I had been looking for a BP gas station and I had the Garmin succession led to 3 wrong stations (mainly discounters).
The radar warning beep up to 7x !!! before a "danger zone", in the long run that's annoying. If one coughs, the Garmin Speech Recognition turns on and suddenly shows commands to the screen, which you then have to acknowledge! The time calculation is the least accurate of the previously mentioned Navis. I've been waiting for the last update of the system software and already looking forward, as there was "improved route calculation". Unfortunately turned out in practice hardly an improvement, sorry, that's much better, as shown by other solutions! I'm not a fan of Tomtom & Co., all have their strengths and weaknesses, but Garmin is lagging in the road navigation far behind.
Positive is the split display of the screen (track display), the rapid discovery of satellites of InfoMonitor and readability of the display. That's it then but already, I would never buy it again!
