As I read, Tarja a) was about to just try her voice something less sopranig and more text based (for which she had the consent of the band!), B) she was also important that the new bass player with this recording came into its own ,
I also adore "Sleeping Sun" '05 and I find that the new recording has a different atmosphere.
Once you understand the text much better in the new version, which as I find it very beneficial, because the text nunmal is the (absolute matching acoustic) content. Even the slightly more earthy brief interlude receives, perhaps a little darker mood.

Especially for Nightwish fans who may not like Tarja's opera singing so, this new edition is a kind of concession to safety. I am of the opinion that just this wonderful song even those should be accessible to him maybe only because of Tarja's soprano liked something less. In this way there is for each "Nightwish & Tarja" - a "Sleeping Sun" faction.

Overall, "Sleeping Sun", regardless of the version (OK, maybe in the '05ers a little more, because it what was completely new for me), always remain one of my favorite songs, regardless of Nightwish itself or my general musical tastes.

"Sleeping Sun" is an absolute masterpiece of music and deserved any recognition!
