I have the camera used in our carnival event, which is very professionally managed with great lighting expenses. The camera was positioned centrally on the edge of the stage as a long shot with a view from below into effect headlamps. The photos are in every respect of excellent quality. Iris control, color and sharpness totally convincing. Since I also had a Gopro 3+ to a 6m-meter crane in use, here are some comparisons: The Gopro provides some sharper images, the Sony has, however, convinced of the colors more. The Gopro provides as Live Preview, which is as an insert to the crane urgently needed a composite output via USB and Micro-HDMI output. The Sony offers no video output. Both cameras WiFi-app preview the camera operation in live action is useless. Thus, the Sony is not suitable for use with Live Preview. Both cameras have recorded continuously with external commercial Battery Power Packs USB 5 1/2 hours. And now a few more comparisons for sports inserts. As a helmet camera I would prefer Sony clearly because of the Live View preview on the wrist. Who likes riding with the phone in hand Ski, or what use to me a plugged monitor to the Gopro, I can not see. Class solution from Sony and all with GPS. Underwater, the question of the better camera does not. Sony know in their manual advises that the camera for underwater shooting is not suitable, as not working by the curved optics autofocus. Yes, an absolute no-go for an Action Cam, but Sony is there to at least. GoPro is very high standards here. Simply superb image quality.
