Just a little history if you do not mind ... The Shooting Star was the first album to have its final form and to be printed in four colors (1942). At that time, the publisher Casterman Hergé incentive to overhaul the old albums to put color and forces it to pass as part of 62 pages (the old albums ranged from 100 to 130 boards). With the work needed to consolidate the albums, Hergé even decide to create Studios Hergé in 1950. The story of this album is especially marked by the use of the fantastic in the very beginning of history. If Hergé wanted to use this theme, it is because with the war, it was not to discuss the news on pain of falling under the weight of censorship.

The search for a meteor at sea seems so far behind reality. Yet even though this adventure seemed to be neutral, Hergé made sure that his work is published in occupied Belgium in 1941. But with the methods used to fight this expedition against the FERS (sabotage, attempted murder, false SOS) lead after the war, when the reissue in 1954 to replace the American flag with one from a fictional country created by Hergé: Sao Rico.

Hergé always find two flaws in this album. For starters, financial sponsoring the competing shipping named Blumenstein was a Jewish connotation. The name was changed in the designer Bohlwinket but later discovered that the name was also a Jewish connotation.
