I bought the grabber to digitize old VHS recordings (about 20 years).
The drive runs smoothly with the supplied driver on Windows 8.1 (64 bit).
The result that the supplied software provides (for me Honestech VHS to DVD) is underground (for I have a star deducted). When playing the file, I could hardly recognize faces and I was about to send the product back.
I only wanted to check possible "errors". So cable swapped (without improving digital profit). So it had to be the software. I have read and tested really much. In endeffect I now have the software "AVS Video Recorder" (Free and Win8 compatible) in use. This really can be created good and usable shots. However, one must say that these files are generated (AVI DV) are very large. I have for about 1 hour VHS movie about 8 GB required. These can later edit with various Toosls and convert them to a format a desired destination.
In summary, one can say that the hardware (stick and cable) for this price "top". The included software unfortunately "flop".
This is my first recession, which I only write about other buyers out of trouble and time, which I unfortunately lost in search of a better software. Here CSL could better dispense with the included software and point an indication of the software solutions of third or better yet enclose a better product.
