Tonight: Franz Ferdinand (2CD) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Yawn. Even in our daily newspaper could recently about the new album "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" of, properly read Franz Ferdinand. They all write about the third album of the British unf the tenor is roughly always the same: the plate is "good", but not more. What Franz fan John says, you can read in the next lines. And who does not have enough time for the complete text, which I offer here a small summary, be careful: "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" is good. But not more.

The double-CD that I have allowed myself, arrived in a nice vinyl design with me. No classical CD case, but practically a record in a smaller edition. And the CDs you fumbles from these Pappdingsbumsen (yes, jargon, I know), the Elder still likely to know of before. A booklet with texts is also doing fine. The second CD "Blood" has incidentally not (as I expected) some bonus songs, but eight crazy dub / funk remixes of album tracks. Some getting used to and of very variable quality, but okay. Probably only for die-hard fans, but it can still make any final opinion, I must listen only there.

But I come to the actual times Album: the opener "Ulysses" may be aware, I still think he's splendid and unsurpassed. Ever, the electronic touch, have a total get the song and album, the album does well. He complements fine with the tried and tested (guitar solos, catchy choruses and smart tempo changes) and is not yet so daring, such as the (disappointing) recent albums by the Killers or Mando Diao. The problem with "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" is rather that the four guys as Glasgow too want to reinvent themselves. The first eight, good indie dance bangers ("Can not Stop Feeling", "No You Girls") are still exactly the songs you'd expect from Franz Ferdinand (and wishes), and except for some minor exceptions, the expected Mitwipp- jokes. Until then towards the end, unfortunately, followed by the 8-minute version of "Lucid Dreams", which sounds like a second-class Remix and the single version, we already know from last year, once again enhances properly. Entirely superfluous then the final two ballads that want to build on "Eleanor Put Your Boots On" (from the predecessor "You Could Have It So Much Better"), but fail mercilessly.

I think you can deduce that I after the long break a little bit more of "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" had expected. It is all in all a good, progressive album with just a single blast ("Ulysses") and many indie rock / pop pieces that you can listen quite often times and certainly some great potential. But nothing more. Franz Ferdinand are apparently no longer have, for a Hit - you have to probably get used to it. And that's a good point, because I have to add complementary: in "Franz Ferdinand" and "YCHISMB" I was also in love only when I saw the troops last summer live. So another reason to go to Franz concert in mid-March in Cologne. This makes it even says: Tonight: Franz Ferdinand! I would like it to me.
