First, I will not go into here explicitly on Steam and the associated online duty. It remains one hand, a matter of taste and on the other hand you are well aware about it, if you even a little information concerned before purchasing. So bad or good to talk a product, the quality of the game is simply not fair.

SCOPE

It is performed in the Pacific War in 1942 between Americans and Japanese. Maps are included as famous battles like Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinwawa or Peleliu. Who watched the series "The Pacific", will recognize the locations quickly. The maps are of course greatly reduced and very typical (almost cliché for each battle) rebuilt, but at the same time provided with detail and variety. Depending on the number of players are each map a different feel.

Who knows what I'm talking the predecessor:
- Small number of players will force a cat-and-mouse tactics, where you have to hold his head still down and each opponent feels like a sniper. The respawn times are clearly noticeable, because after turning off some enemies you have to move forward immediately and should seize the opportunity. Creativity and surprise play in the pathfinding a strong role, because the map is sparsely populated with a few players. - Large number of players creates a stronger atmosphere, take in large group movements rooms and defended it against numerous opponents. The battle expands and the respawn times are no longer to feel strong, as always, a number of enemies waiting for your team. One must expect that is attacked from several directions and hidden paths are also used en masse. The team hardly knows a few exceptions (usually the best and most noticeable players), but it creates a team feeling to be involved in something big.

I must admit that the number of maps (6 to be precise) has somewhat surprised me at the beginning. The predecessor had felt a dozen more. But the developers are 100% more new added, sometimes through contests of players. Tripwire Interactive is one of the developers companies who keep their word, albeit belatedly.

GAME MODES

The game offers 3 different game modes plus an online campaign. Territory is standard game type on most servers, you have to take a line of dots, the defender wins after the time (about 20 minutes) as the aggressor.
Firefight is Team Deathmatch, actually inappropriate for Red Orchestra. 2
Countdown is like territory, but without re-entry and after each point conquered all be resurrected. The attacker team has 2 reinforcement waves throughout the round and must take 4 points. So take the attacker team the 1st point with 90% of losses (or on all opponents), all to be revived before the attack on the 2nd item starts. Opponents of course. Once the time runs out or both reinforcing waves have been used in an attack, the sides are changed. The team that has won more points than the other wins, tied score wins the faster team.

The online campaign starts on an overview map. Each team starts with the same number of resource points and selects whether attacking or defending a territory. Each team has first half of the card. An attack costs more resources than defense, but remains the only way to take areas at all. Who conquers the entire map or the resources of the enemy (eg through consistent defense, ie forcing the opponents to costly and unsuccessful attacks) is the winner of the online campaign. The team that previously attacked decides whether it is attacking or defending on. A simple majority is needed internally so. If defense is tuned, the opposing team attacks automatically. Then retuned over the target area and the Map. The gameplay remains the same, it will only create a connection between the games to virtually missing the whole campaign a small storyline.

GAMEPLAY

Significant differences to RO2:

- Two different teams with different strengths. The Americans have all weapons categories abundant as the Soviets and Germans in RO2. Every soldier is significantly better armed than a Japanese soldier (the most "only" with rifle and bayonet rumläuft), because it has at least one M1 Garand (semi-automatic 8-shot rifle).
