Then the first reviews came to the pre-production model - devastating.
Especially while the Rolling Shutter, extreme moiré and poor sharpness were criticized.
I have the camera now since 10 days even, and my own experiences leave the camera in a much better light than in the previous set of reviews will appear, so I'll Never give back ;-)
The colors are, in the standard white balance modes Auto, inside and outside, all very neutral, never frayed or overemphasized. If you want more or less, use the manual white balance mode.
Well, the Cinematone mode would Sony mE equal to omit. in my tests it provided extremely dull colors (considerably poorer color contrast than with manual white balance) with significant increase in grain size.
The sharpness depends first time mainly by the lens from, and is the Kitoptik been exemplary.
What is this overlooked by the critics often is that the so-called 'blur' really do not is because what eg promotes a Siemens star in the measurement laboratory here revealed, is actually the moiré, which, with a large sensor, as it was built here is completely normal.
By the way: Moiré adheres when VG20 if you order correctly and above all films not only in the metrology laboratory, in quite acceptable limits, and actually only occurs with closely or parallel lines. With a little sensitivity at (un) sharpness setting and shutter speed, you can already make in receiving some well again here.
Conclusion: Where today can you get such a real video camera, plus 16 megapixel photo shoot, a large APS-C sensor, first-class sound, and above all, interchangeable lens, for under EUR 4,000?
The answer is: Nowhere, except for the NEX-VG20. Also something that at all - must not overlook the criticism - partly unjustified.
