Surely it will not be "tough" enough to some people. The songs are largely based on catchy melodies, the singing of unbekümmertem Ailyn with a manageable and only occasionally interspersed pinch Death Metal.
What makes the whole thing but remarkable and at a really good album, are the outstanding compositions in conjunction with the perfect technical implementation. Here Morten Veland proves again that he is an outstanding composer. And the album has since really a lot: While you might find one or two good songs on many works of similar bands, Sirenia set here really felt all 1.5 songs again one better. Although these songs like the length and design seem trendy, but they really have to go into your ear and you hear them always happy - and to be unfaithful to all without the genre, as do many other bands.
Something strange seems to the fact that Ailyn quite cheerful and unconcerned therefore sings what dislike quite fit on the content of the songs, which is primarily concerned with solitude, the hopelessness of existence and the abyss of humanity. It is also not so outstanding singer. Her accent in connection with the Barbie-like distortion gives the song but a cute charm that is safe with its chosen stylistic way no miscast. Energy and high vocal range à la Simone Simons can not be expected here but.
But so be it: even as a lover of Gothic Metal I have decided not forcibly have a bad temper. Since the audible and catchy style of this album is just right (those wishing to explore the depths of the human soul can indeed to other bands such as The Sins of Thy Beloved hold). As usual there are plenty of Sirenia choral passages that break up the compositions and make sure also a special attraction of this project.
It is nice that this was not fully eliminated on hardness. There is still no metal and pop music. Conclusion: An inspired, modern plant, the fans of the genre should not be on your left. 4 of 5 stars for decent craft.
A real shame that you all this from the grottigen successor Album (The Enigma Of Life) no longer can claim!
