I can only agree with my pre-reviewers: The adapter works fine. I had to program (182 EURACOM) a telephone system from Ackermann and had for the first time problems with my previously used Converter (Digitus Prolific PL-2303HX), with whom I previously many "old treasures" (Ascom PBX, remote control Home Theater MX700, old Nokia cell phone, etc.) was set up without difficulty. At the EURACOM the Prolific chip went on strike: The line went dead again and again together; a programming was not possible. The FTDI Chip everything works exactly as stress-free as if a real serial port on the computer installed. In my experience, I can therefore confirm that the FTDI chip in any case for critical devices should probably be a better choice than the Prolific chip. I tested the adapter with Win Vista 32bit and Win 7 32 & 64bit. Vista is the driver himself has taken. For Windows 7 I have resorted to the drivers from the homepage [....] because the new goods than on the supplied CD. One should take care that the complete installation is performed in two steps: first, only the driver for the Converter (bus Layer) installed. One must then again the Device Manager accessible from the Control Panel, the USB to Serial Converter Search, click right and "Update Driver Software" option. Then you can specify the same directory from which comes also the driver for the Converter. In the second step the COM port emulation driver will be installed and the adapter is ready for use. In the detailed installation instructions from the homepage ([....] This is also documented accurately, though not in the supplied booklet, nor in the description on the supplied CD. However, these small Macke justifies no penalty. Vista by the way the double installation automatically pulled through. For use with the EURACOM I had then only via Control Panel-> Device Manager> Ports (COM & LPT) -> USB Serial Port (COMx) -> Properties -> [tab] port settings set the Flow Control to "Hardware" and select in the same tab under "Advanced" the matching software COM port number and could start working.
Addendum: Amazon deletes the left correctly. Therefore: The comprehensive instructions and the drivers do not get to the homepage of delock but of FTDIChip. What is needed is the Virtual Com Port (VCP) drivers.
