Customer Review

John Paul Demoule offers two books for one. But unfortunately they are mixed. The first is an ideological critique of research on the Indo-European. The author seems to want to punish those who like him sintéressent about unmasking him as a racist myth until today linked to extreme right demonized. Late emulates Sainte-Beuve, the author népargne no biographical detail or policy tribulations of followers "by suggesting that this scientific specialty is particularly absurd and disastrous yet. Newton was an alchemist, Einstein cheated on his wife, Marx speculated traded Human,. too human. So what? Bill Bryson shows with humor sometimes lacking in Demoule that many famous scientists tried dempêcher new discoveries. Laffairisme, mind courtier lallégeance nimporte to which regime to preserve its most petty interests are not far from there a monopoly of research on the Indo-European. The myth of a gifted original people of qualities that describe him as promised world domination na not lexclusivité totalitarianism, since Stalinism comes to results at least comparable with "the myth of legality and the historical mission of the proletariat. And dailleurs Fascism which Hitler takes inspiration cultivates a Roman myth. "The convergence of totalitarianisms of the twentieth century are adorned with myths contrary rejects the idealistic construction author. This is not the Aryan myth which Nazism nor celtomanie who made the Second Empire. The second book deals with the state of research by collecting, summarizing and criticizing the various theories proposed over the last 3 centuries. But sometimes cut short by returning too often to other works which will not be accessible to the general public . There are repetitions, flashbacks, and interruptions due to various anti-portraits (Dumézil sen better fate quÉliade)
It does therefore not surprising quaprès these pages the author produces twelve stimulating antitheses napportent few novelties. Yes, the tree the schema is insufficient; yes, everything is more complicated that it first appears ny; no, we should not be careful because lenjeu policy is zero, and even sil létait not, it would not be a reason to silence what turned out; no, the multidisciplinary model is not a panacea (as he himself shown). It should probably read this book, if one is interested in Indo-European; but it is like a purgatory ...
