I've looked at the TX30 because I am an enthusiastic owner of the TX5 for years and wanted to see what that has to offer the current model. Biggest plus is the Movie button directly on the housing; the TX5 must first be cumbersome converted to movie mode. That's it then but already, unfortunately outweigh the disadvantages: - The slide door on the front side is heavier than in the TX5, because it is somewhat inside. With a little pressure she tilts. The intention may be to protect against unintentional opening, but so can the camera now more difficult to open with one hand. - The software is slower. Individual menu items take longer to access than the TX5. - On Screen Display can be disabled completely in the TX5, here remains an annoying icon that you need long press to activate the OSD again. Stupid.
Conclusion: I love this concept with the inner zoom lens and the slide door, also the robustness and the excellent sensor. As always-in-the-pocket, this camera top, can be one-handed use so you can pick them up within about 2 seconds out of your pocket and take a picture. This makes for not a smartphone. Perfect for snapshots. Basically it has for the TX30 little changed, but for the above reasons I stay still my beloved TX5 loyal, although I will continue to miss the Movie button. On the slightly better picture and video quality I can do without.
