To summarize:
One hardly notices to him that it's a push, especially in the short focal length range.
When shooting RAW, can the smaller weaknesses (distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberration), bring the well corr. Fixed focal lengths, offset almost entirely by Lightroom.
There were fixed focal lengths, the this is not true (eg surprisingly also the 35mm!).
Against 200mm lens lets a bit, esp. Weakens the contrast. I am considering whether I still DETERMINED me a specialized magnification. But one has to lug also first ever ...
Conclusion: strong buy recommendation.
For this focal length range, and that it more than able to compete as "Always-on" with fixed focal lengths: 5 stars. If you use it almost exclusively as a telephoto, but even then, there were only 3-4 star.
PS the tests were carried out on the D200 and the D7000.
