Unfortunately, the trend has been foreseeable for several volumes - routine sets in, the surprises are lacking. This latest episode is the recent negative finis. Without great surprises you is a - out story in the making once again to create a terrible evil, crazed psychopath Alex Cross - as usual very pleasant to read.
Patterson is the lack of originality probably self-conscious, as the cliffhanger on the first page proves (dialogue between a hard - fatal ??? - injured Cross and the emergency physician).
Then continue as normal with a non satisfactory (for me) because arg gekünsteltem conclusion - and the indirect announcement of the next adventure.
The book has 300 pages is concise, set large, and by its generous setting (each of the more than 120 chapter begins on a new page) you might just net 250-270 pages of reading material - far too little for a moderately exciting title me 30 Euro cost.
The 3 points I forgive for an above-average bottom line story with fond grown protagonists. But one has to take the book within two evenings reading through already and it does not irritate it again later in the hand.
As a non-hardcore fan, I would wait for the paperback edition. 10 euros are then a more reasonable price.
