Too bad, because I expected actually more ... Having just "The Last of Us" and "Alien: Isolation" was behind me, I was also a bit spoiled, but nevertheless: "The Evil Within" moves graphically unfortunately clearly on (bad) PS3-level, the control is totally impractical (since the developers should again take a look at "Alien: Isolation" throw, in which there are the same movement options, but they clearly flowing and implemented organic) and by the third-person perspective, which I usually like, here also the last remnant voltage is replaced by frustration as the character really only got (almost) full-frame takes over the complete line of sight. In a game where you need it, to observe the movements of his opponent precisely, it can not be that one his opponents often do not see because they are in front of a (and you are as a player behind his character). The AI is also very strange and acts partly completely unnachvollziehbar. (Sometimes you make a hell of a noise next to a zombie / spirit / demon-thingy and it's not strapped but simply continues its pre-programmed route and then turn an opponent sees a sudden, although it was wonderful hidden and outside the line of sight of the enemy).
And finally (but that is now a pure taste argument), the developers are obviously one of those people hold the horror and gore for the same. Tons of blood and Gematsche give far no horror (quite the contrary). Fear makes the game at any point, tension is almost never on (rather frustration) and by the - already mentioned - lousy graphics and (the absurdly high contrast ratio), the game is also atmospherically far from its obvious role models.
