Universal external housing

after searching for an external burner for my netbook and various failures with various slim burners I've decided to put a still present internal DVD burner in an external enclosure and saw opted for this housing.

The housing is universally applicable. It can be used both IDE and S-ATA drives. The installation of 3.5 "hard drives is possible.
Preconfigured, the housing for the installation of IDE drives. All necessary cables for the operation of S-ATA devices are supplied with the housing.

The "Installation Guide" is somewhat ambiguous and extremely sparse for laymen. To install a drive, must be removed from both the front and the rear plastic cover. A total of 8 screws are loosened, what a Phillips screwdriver size 0 Ph should be available. Subsequently, the housing can be easily opened

The internal connection cable of sufficient length, the audio cables, however quiet a two centimeter could have been longer. The audio cable is provided with a simple flat plug and unfortunately is not at all evident that the right cable and which is the left channel.
The housing has a built-in fan. But since I believe that is not necessary for my purpose (heat dissipation over the aluminum body), I have the fan turned off.

The housing is a 08/15 power supply. Secondary 12 V and 5 V with max. 2A available. Equipment side, the power supply via a mini-DIN connector is realized. Who has more external enclosures from other manufacturers with mini DIN sockets and would like to use, you should first verify the PIN configuration. I have multiple sources of power of external cases of other manufacturers of the same type and with mini-DIN connector. However, in my previous power supplies, the pin assignment of the Mini-DIN connector is different.

After everything was screwed together, it went to the practice test.
The burner was as expected immediately recognized and burning a test DVD ran without problems. However, the case is without any attenuation on the table, which is transmitted every vibration on the table. The manufacturer should perhaps simply attach rubber / foam nubs for sticking with which the vibrations could be dampened somewhat.

All in all, met the case but its intended purpose.
