As an all-reportage lens on full-frame I would like it not to miss - zoomed times here, there a little bit wide angle - watch out! By the image stabilization, which can compensate for one or two f-stops when it comes to camera shake, is to use good even at dawn, shooting at 1 / 40s with 35mm focal length for example, have so far become increasingly sharp. On the conversion 1 / focal length I would be depending on the format, focus and lens not too much. I regularly verwackle 1/80 with a 50mm f1.2 without image stabilizer ...
The picture quality is good but not very good. But it makes better pictures than a Sigma 17-70 OS HSM, which I have previously used on a Canon EOS 7D. This brings me straight to the next point - the lens on Cropformat. This is wonderful, especially since it is then not even photographed on the border area. The 24mm (38mm Crop) can bottom out be a little tight, and is somewhat similar to the 50mm on small picture format. For this you will get rewarded with the top nearly 170mm.
Haptic the lens is almost perfect - though of plastic with metal tube, like all new L's - but with high quality. The tube is depending on the series dispersion times more or less smooth rolling - I've caught a with a smooth-tube because the tube at 90 degrees inclination can move up before - should not be in my opinion.
The lens with accessories: Anyone using extension tubes, can ran much closer - already 12mm work wonders. An extender (teleconverter) - not to be confused with extension tubes - however, does not work with the lens.
Do I need to assess the lens now, I come to the conclusion that for 900 euros a tempered, dust and splash-proof - I have photographed so easily in the rain - lens gets that provides good visual results. The compromise is that it is a stop further closed, compared to competitors that have less focal length, but a maximum aperture of f / 2.8 - Cropping work so slightly worse, although I must say that I f 2.8 for even limited interest find. Fixed focal length with maximum aperture of 1.4 provide here again quite different results than the sometimes highly acclaimed Aperture 2.8. The only shortcoming I level a the tube that ran to easy for my objective from the beginning.
The lens to miss three stars because it is no panacea with f / 4.0, I find inappropriate. In my view, fits everything here - the customer gets exactly what they are paying. 4.5 stars I would like to give with bias to five stars - therefore there are also five.
