======================
I have ordered the players on Saturday night, delivery was Tuesday. Packaging was the normal original box, as in the past always impeccable (undamaged). The package was carefully and sufficient in my view. The player is fixed in the box with cardboard profiles and additionally wrapped in a thin PVC wrap. The (specular) front is protected with an additional adhesive film. Enclosed the essentials (RCA video cable, RCA audio cable, power cable), which in my view only, however, is almost sufficient. A (not enclosed) HDMI cable would be desirable in this price league. For half a point deduction.
The manual is multilingual and in detail, but not really necessary. Each with stereo systems experience builds the unit in 3 minutes. The back is tidy and easily accessible.
The reflective front is ok, but matt brushed aluminum as its predecessor would be significantly more appealing. In addition: blue light under the drive and the opening at the front are just kid stuff. Should probably look modern. A monolithic design would certainly be appealing for a device in this league. Half point deductions.
Operation with the handy and also clear remote control is no problem, the response time of the menus could be better, but it looks "soft" from. For the set into the mirrored front touch buttons are not very practical: they attract fingerprints, unfortunately, there are particular for the eject function no button on the remote. The startup takes a long time, about 40 seconds. The tray opens and closes quietly and without rattling, also it is worked well (with little play). The motor inside can be heard only when reading and chapter jumps, otherwise the instrument is audibly in normal living room atmosphere imperceptible. If you rangeht close to the ear, you can hear a rather dark, monotonous hum. Heat generation is very standard, the unit is from the outside not even lukewarm (DVD upscaling playback).
The picture quality is top notch. From BluRays according to the material, but in particular really excellent when upscaling of DVD material. DVDs come close to (badly made) BluRays, see only very slightly blurred out. The picture is even with rapid camera movements flawlessly and without artifacts (both BR and DVD playback). The sound is (subjectively acoustic) good, but I've tried just 2.1 and not Dolby 7.1 playback. In particular, for the upscaling performance: half point plus. What I have also not checked: the LAN / WiFi / streaming capabilities and playback of AVI material via USB or LAN. I slide after, when I have time.
Overall, for the basic functionalities ie 4.5 stars. "Benefit of the doubt", so rounded up. 5
