There really is little negative to say about the lens: vignettes are often clearly visible, especially at the short end (Fade helps of course). Distortion sometimes falls on (again, especially at the short end).
Otherwise, this objective is within its specification very well: Focus perfectly even at full aperture, contrast and "brilliance" (subjectively) my 35mm prime lens absolutely equal, CAs fall almost never anywhere on. Handling is good, vibration reduction works, processing no reason for any complaint. Only the hood is terrible (as this lens, Nikon or generally, but not alone).
What the potential buyers should definitely superior for the price you get already 2.8er aperture standard zoom (for example, a 17-50mm Tamron, which you can recommend reportedly actually). Such is much more versatile than this 3.5-5.6 which only one out there at halfway good weather never gets in the way (therefore "fair-weather lens"). More creative ways they are using the Tamron have (presumably regarding the imaging performance with compromises, but so can most likely live well). Think about the good therefore. On the other hand they might be happy with the much cheaper and very well valuated 18-105mm 3.5-5.6er Nikon ...
