The quartets by Mendelssohn are much less known than those of Beethoven (one of the greatest monuments of the music), Mozart, Schubert, Haydn and Brahms others, but they are not without merit, and they are very pleasant to listen, while providing deep passes. The last, in F minor is a cry of pain upsetting the death of the composer's sister (who is himself died a few months later). The interpretation of the Cherubini Quartet is absolutely blameless.
