WD TV Play as Media Client

Preliminary FYI, I have the WD tested only in operation via UPnP or DLNA together with my Twonkyserver.
The other features of the WD I have not tested since you do not interest me.
I've bought in order to replace my somewhat in the tooths Philips SL400i the WD Play. Eigenlich I wanted to buy myself a Phillips HMP 7100.

Unwrapped, HDMI cable to the TV, RCA cable to my stereo, network cable in the box, turned
and already I could with BubbleUpnp of my tablet from my Twonky addressed via the WD and get my multimedia collection. As far as I can see so far is the streaming on Twonky (MP3, video, photos), no problem.
At first I was skeptical because it has no display, but only for the initial setup you have to turn on the TV and set the remote control to WD, if that is at all necessary. About the App "Bubbleupnp" you can look at his media collection without problems. (MP3 listening turn on TV without being compulsory)

So UPNP and DLNA makes it in principle harmless, except for the volume control, which can be either via the remote control
rules nor Bubbleupnp. This was the KO criterion for me. To bad, I would like to keep him.
In my Philipps NP1100 goes without problems, will therefore return to WD.

Negative

-no volume control via DLNA
-no manual
-Reaktionszeit Bit slow

If you can do without the volume control, which is part of the UPnP DLNA operation is not bad.
