Weakest Novel So Far

Opal (Lux A Novel) (Paperback)

Customer Review

In "Opal", the third novel in the Lux Series, Daemon's Long Lost Twin Brother Dawson has finally returned.

That would be great and a reason to celebrate and all, were there not the teeny tiny complication of his girlfriend being shut capted by the Department of Defense.

The storyline in this novel makes barely any sense. Beth, Dawson's girlfriend, Whom we got to know as incredibly powerful and so awesome, did the DOD has trouble catching her Whenever she escapes, is now in need of rescue. Yeah, Because She Could not free herself, our group of beloved alien and -nonalien heroes has to put Themselves through a terrible, terrible form of torture to be able to save her. This even sounds boring When I try to make it exciting.

Yet again, I have no idea how Armentrout is able to fill four hundred pages with this. It took me probably more than two weeks to finally get through this novel Because it was just so hard to read and simply not entertaining me in the slightest. Everything, every single scene in this novel just screams lazy writing. From long forgotten characters who used to be plot devices, to random side characters, everyone returns to get a piece of Katy. Besides, If They introduce another goddamn stone That has some kind of magic qualities to Luxen and Hybrids, I'm going to lose my mind. (Plot 1/5)

It's a certainty by this point did everyone who turns badside and has to put up with the Katy, Whether she's alone or with the Luxen, WILL nerve the. Yeah, she can take about everything When She's on her own, maybe suffers a few injuries That Are Not dramatic anyways if youy boyfriend is healer of intergalactic, but When in company, Katy morphs into a baby kitten.

It's funny really, how she's all about independence, feminism and equality, but when she's with her boyfriend, she needs his protection. I can not stand this. The Entire Novel Revolves around Katy and Daemon making out. The other characters are barely there and If They are, They just make an appearance Quickly so we do not forget thatthey exist. What intrigued me in the first novel about daemon as a love interest is what he did so rebelleious. He hated her guts he did not want anything to do with her, but within one novel This completely changed and now he's all gooey eyes and grabby fingers. I did not sympathize with this daemon and frankly, he annoys me.

Katy is a typical YA protagonist did the reader is supposed to identify with, Mainly beacuse she does not really have a striking personality or actual point of views That Could be thought of as controversial. She's a blank page and with a boyfriend That is so civil and polite all of a sudden, I'd like to gauge my eyes out. Is it just me or are these two nothing like actual teenagers? With Daemon I get it Because He's Edward Cullen Basically Gone Bad From Space. He's older than he looks, at least in terms of wisdom. But Katy? She's seventeen and there is not even one single scene of teenage drama in it. She's too grown up for a YA protagonist.

I've said it once and I'm going to say it again: I'd rather have read about Dee. Who, by the way, has about three scenes of dialogue in the novel which just makes me angry. She's so interesting and Their friendship Actually what fun and nothing like the plot forcec relationship That is Katy's and Carissa's. Or what did Lesa? I do not even know who's who, that's how much I do not care about them. (Characters 2/5)

Because Armentrout dragged this novel so much I found myself contemplating to just stop reading and forget Book Three ever happened. I loved the first book, the second one was alright, but this one is just ... ugh. But in the end, made it by inserting Armentrout a really intense cliffhanger end scene That makes it impossible for me to stop. I still do not care about 70% of the people in this novel but somehow, I'm longing for this to change. There are five books for a reason, are not there? (Writing 3/5)

Overall: Do I Recommend?

Honestly, if you were as into the Lux Series as I was in the beginning, the answer is kind of obvious. By this point it feels like an obligation to continue, even if it gets insanely bad. I still think, dass die Lux Series is worth reading even though it gets worse book by book, but ... just look at daemon in the first novel and you'll understand. Why did I even start to read these ...?
