Sorry but I am unable to agree with those who put "On the waterfront" at the "Three Musketeers" (let alone Bragelonne!). Certainly it is very exotic, very informative (though provided notes) but no character has depth, the success of a Richelieu, a d'Artagnan! We read a translation (what a job!) But the "average age" style adopted is often tiring (one no longer Don Quixote translated as the 16th century!) And I would love to know why only drinks VIN in this novel. .. is not tea or water (almost never)! No successful female character (or even this ... where is Anne of Austria?). Some characters come to a place a little too high (the drinker hearted monk gross) when we would like to know other more.
I hope to do better in the literature "classic" Chinese!
