In my opinion, the OST has here not hide from major motion pictures, quite the contrary. If today a science fiction movie alla Star Wars hit theaters with this music, so the Oscar for best film music would certainly be in the pocket. Such awards are in smaller scale also in the video game industry, so was Mass Effect also in the category "Best Original Score" nominated this year. And the only deal, for what main composer Jack Wall (Jade Empire) and synth specialist Sam Hulick deliver here is more than a masterpiece ... it is rather unique in the worlds of the universe ... something you will not probably as soon get to hear. At this point I want to comment briefly on the individual pieces. ATTENTION: As the title description and my content will also address the bombastic story, so I advise every reader does not yet have the main quest of the game through, from now on no longer read. Basically one has soundtrack oriented in the type of music (classical, in conjunction with synth melodies) on grandiose "Babylon 5". The CD itself, I have found me as an import since no record label offers this in Germany.
"Mass Effect Theme": Like any great film, for example, Lord of the Rings, also gets Mass Effect his musical main theme. Bombastic and epic just comes over this. The hymn-like melody provides the intro of the game for the first goosebumps. Guaranteed!
"The Normandy": This will be heard when you are on board his ship, the Normandy. Basically, there is a piece of fast Ambient sequences.
"Eden Prime": Each story planet in the game, also gets its own theme. Here it is the prologue on Eden Prime. The mood of the title is kept very dark and mysterious in accordance with the mission. Perfect mood!
"Battle At Eden Prime": No shooter deposits without the matching music ... the thought is probably also the musicians and presenting several campaign issues. Here is one of them, it highlights the action on Eden Prime very effective.
"Saren": Let's talk about a real highlight ... Saren's Theme is probably the first "Terminator" ajar as a tribute film. Nevertheless, the melody is an independent work and is one of the most brilliant melodies that probably was ever written for a videogame. Saren's Theme returns in different variations on more often.
"The Citadel": The Great Space Station gets in her first appearance donated an epic theme, reminiscent of the early Star Trek movies.
"The Presidium": A very melancholy piece, suitably used to the atmosphere on the Citadel.
"The Ward": This is a piece written for the districts of the Citadel, this time held in gloomy style. The version in the game was arranged somewhat differently.
"Criminal Elements": This sounds on the planet Noveria to match the bar in one pursues shops.
"Spectre Induction": Here the main theme returns in a bombastic version back shortly. Class made in the game!
"Liara's World": The Story of the Planet pretty Asari gets also an issue. The piece consists of a synth sequence decorated with some effects.
"A very dangerous place": In the style of "Blade Runner" This issue has been packaged in an ingenious melody towards the center. The play was represented in previous trailers and simply rocks! For me, the most amazing action theme I've heard in a game so far.
"Feros": The theme of the story Planet Feros adopt ambient stressed and very cautious.
"Protecting The Colony": action-fitting pieces.
"The Thorian": Here, the familiar tune from the trailer the Microsoft presentation of 2006 returns. Once by the nuclear sphere ago!
"Noveria": The theme of the story Planet Noveria again consists of a great synth melody.
"The Secret Labs": At first slowly, then change the play in a fast-action version.
"The Alien Queen": The Queen of Asari is provided here musically very nice in the center. In the game itself, the titles vary somewhat and are played at various locations.
"Fatal Confrontation": More Action theme, this time in a shorter form.
"Saren's Base": In the style of the theme Saren, a "Terminator" is chosen similar piece again. Sounds exactly as bleak as in the "Terminator" OST.
"Breeding Ground": My personal highlight. Saren's theme returns in a classic version and play the version of the official E3 2007 trailer slightly different from. What a piece of music!
"Virmire Ride": Action theme that presents again Saren's theme, this time in a fight scene on Virmire where you are traveling with the MAKO. Fast piece addictive.
"Exit": The first few seconds of the song already sounded on Eden Prime mission, but then moves to a musical jewel that presents Saren's topic again.
"Love Theme": The focus here is on the piano melody, supported by wonderful ambient sounds. Atmospheric it brings the romantic plot of the game to a wonderful finale.
"Uncharted Worlds": The media swarmed already to this music that was to be admired for the first time in the very first gameplay trailer.
"Ilos": quite overwhelming stylistic theme.
"Vigil": one of the most atmospheric issues at all; Imagine her since on the moon, looking towards Earth ... to this title and to get into raptures!
"Sovereign's Theme": Also one of the most brilliant melodies ever ... The Reaper Ship Sovereign, known from the book "The Revelation", gets a threat appreciating its corresponding theme, accompanied by a choir.
Enthralling music incl. Different variations of the Sovereign theme that accompanies the grand finale impressive. Finally, give it entitled "M4 Part II" a thrilling rock opera, presented by the Canadian band Faunts. The Game and the OST thus find a brilliant, incredible degree. Conclusion: For me, the best video game soundtrack of all time. Let's see what the next games offer musically ...
