If I ignore the countless technical problems and look at what kind of * * Game proceeds to conceal himself behind the location for CoD not really rosy.
1st part ugly, gloomy menu images (eg: German loading screen). Strange menu structure. First impression: A fan project.
2. Campaign? What campaign? The Battle of Britain would be an ideal candidate for a dynamic campaign à la Falcon 4.0 / AF. 1C says something we do not need. Instead, there's carelessly strung together inserts that come within its scope not nearly at the historical Squadron strengths. BOB2 Wings of Victory made before a few years ago that huge formations of Heinkel bombers must not remain an illusion in a Sim. Batman has had problems when more than 10 - 15 bombers on the screen. Yikes! I did not write of the art yet! No matter: In the "campaign", the player can not even specify the name of his or its pilot season - let alone little goodies (eg: killboard, pilots or relay management) enjoy.
Something there was in Red Baron in the year 1990 levels.
3. Needless detailed features, while more important is missing or does not work: Why can not I compile my 110 the ammunition individually for each einzelen MG, but can not find anywhere a simple command screen to adjust the convergence of my arms? And how can it be that the Bf109's even according to the in-game data in the embattled state (100% fuel and ammunition) to 100kg * overweight *? (Compared with historical values are's the way many as 140 kg). But most of all I miss the ingenious Quick mission builder of IL-2. The CoD Quick stakes are quite nice, but can be fine-tune as I would love a lot less. And also here missing descriptions, details, just somehow everything that could spread atmosphere even begin. If I then on the menu, and the music from the age-old oldie "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe" think ...
4. Strangely multiplayer mode: CoD has perhaps circumstantial user interface that I have ever experienced. Alone to conjure me in multiplayer mode a simple chat window on the screen, it would take probably a basic knowledge of programming. Why a simple, functional and activatable via keyboard chat window is here not shown by default? In addition, the multiplayer mode contains features that nobody needs: Instead of me just to catch a plane and to enter the world, must / can I whole groups "spawn" and then hop into the world of the cockpit to cockpit. What for? Who needs something in an online Dogfight?
In summary, only a conclusion: Even if 1C manages to resolve in a short time the serious technical flaws, it remains at the end but still a game left which is none. Atmosphere? Zero. Story? Zero. Historical information content: tends to zero. With a dynamic campaign and a more attractive presentation CoD could be one of the big hits of the year. And just in terms of atmosphere / presentation but the simulated battle here is something like a penalty: Young, handsome knights of the air that will compete in 1940 over the sunlit Channel for deadly duel. How to implement such a romantic scenario, only such sober and dry?
Oh yes and the technical status at delivery is of course just "Six put!". Patches or not: In this form, no play should be published - especially not one that was in the development of 7 years.
