I bought this lens to the camera in order to make it more compact and pocket-compatible when needed. This is also managed. However, to provide a benchmark for picture quality, I rate it worse than the 18-55 kit lens to a grade. There is not much brighter than the kit lens significantly blurred but especially towards the edges. To me it is also to weitwinkelig, I can not use well the 16mm = 24mm. A good 35mm would much rather. So there's even one of Sony in the form of SEL24F18Z, but I think the price completely exaggerated. When I got an equivalent Nikon lens for one-third of the price. (Sony 1100 - Nikon 350) For a few weeks I also own the 50mm F1.8 lens - that I value in turn to at least a grade better than the kit lens. The light intensity is "mindblowing" - When looking at the pictures I think almost a new camera to have. The 50mm equivalent on a 75mm NEX-5 and is thus intended for other uses. However, it brings a lot more image quality from the image sensor and does so much more fun.
