Why all this Venta-bashing?

I have determined one hundred reviews read on this humidifier. But as I had about 250 spent on electricity for my water boiling humidifier last winter, I wanted to try something else and have now bought the LW45 / white.

The criticisms (which are repeatedly mentioned in other reviews) are:

- "Cheap plastic"?
So I've seen a lot of cheap plastic. From China - thin, brittle, and odious to plasticizers. This case is very solid plastic. Pleasantly Perfect, completely odorless and no doubt that you can use it without problems for decades. Something like the cutlery drawer a Miele dishwasher. The controls look simple and high quality.

- "Power supply firmly mounted on the lid"?
Perfect nonsense. This looks so, but that is nothing more intelligent than a strain relief. On the cover are two buttons and if you press them, folds apart the cover. Then you can, for example, clean the fins more or unplug the AC adapter.

- "No Removable tank"?
This whole removable water tanks that keep their water only by vacuum are, I leaked so many times. (This can be read in many reviews on humidifiers.) The whole bottom part is here a single massive tub. Water damage excluded!

- "Not safe for children"?
In fact - the lid is bolted on and can easily be taken down. But if one of his children can tank to a humidifier (vacuum) - then good night ... ;-) Given that extends a little lopsided or a "bump" already made by the cup, water to drain. But - once the lid is removed - is immediately the fan. Risk of injury is not so. BTW: Incidentally, I have never seen a humidifier, which was children's rampage Sure. So that's pretty silly as criticism.

- "Taken by surprise, creaks or is loud"?
Yes - at level three, he's loud. At level two pleasantly quiet and at level one practically inaudible. A rumble or creaking I have not yet noticed - perhaps the defective devices have been. But what is most important to me: The type of noise. The propeller is so great that one hears only a very low-frequency noise - in addition to a slight steady rumble that sounds to me like the ball bearing. It has nothing of a PC fan or something. More of a low-speed (large) fan.

- "No Air Treatment"?
Now - perhaps the advertising as something run away with them. So how will the little machine "clean" the air on 75 square meters is a complete mystery to me. (Perhaps in smokers?) Or if it stands in the middle and is constantly air circulation in the room. So subjectively nothing to remember. But since the water is dirty, some dust is already certainly be caught. Vacuuming should be but still continue ... ;-)

- "No humidification"?
As an operator must be some mistake. I guess that the hygiene was incorrectly dosed or omitted. Or the water used was so chalky that the wetting agent was not enough. I'm getting my Humidity in two days (approximately 60sqm living / kitchen / dining room) despite regular airing on level 2 from 50 to 60 percent, so I turned it off first again. More experience I will grudge after winter.

For this I have to say that I work without hygiene and prefer even want to change the water a week. (I have a reverse osmosis system available, so that I have no problem Lime) for wetting I've tried that so 2-3 drops odorless (is available from the health food store) detergents are ideal for me. If one fills no wetting aid, then only a few small drops that are wandering on the respective discs form. And that then nothing dampened somehow logical. If you walk in makes too much detergent to form large bubbles between the discs and the will not be as good - so then just pour out half and replenish ... ;-)

Conclusion: Until now, I can fully recommend the unit. Although I have no longer experience it, I wanted to write the review anyway because me all these strange Mäkeleien (see above) had already longer actually held a Venta try it. Good: The part could certainly be sold cheaper, but I could mention many other things that for whatever reason ;-) are well made and (just more expensive.

--- Subsequent to 10 weeks of operation:

I have the device as described above is used (2 drops of detergent / charge) and still found that:

- The humidifier does all the work. In stage two it is every two days "empty" and must be refilled. Since he holds about 8-10 liters, the humidification is roughly as good as in my evaporator (250 Watts!).

- He does not catch dirt hardly a (stage two). The soup is about as dirty as in any case forms dust under bed or cabinet. So air cleaning more cosmetically. In addition I am also very happy because cleaning is annoying.

- I have dumped the remaining water, wiped him briefly and the slats abgebraust in the bath, otherwise only refilled every second / third time refilling. CAUTION: Do not rinse off thoroughly the lower part from the outside, because then running water in any cracks and still dripping forever.

- Twice a week, I had to give in the detergent (obviously it decomposes)

- If you (like me) to dispense with the hygiene you should make sure that the appliance does not stand still for too long. Otherwise form sometimes little black spots (mold ;-) evil on the fins. I've now had after 10 weeks and the humidifier then purified as follows: half full with clean water, a "shot" chlorine (ix) it (perhaps 10-20cc) and - outside on the terrace ;-) - run a couple of hours leave. After that he was as good as new - and already yellowed slats white again. (But they are a bit original "yellow" as the housing - so better not chlorine excesses!)

- And another thing NEGATIVE: The humidifier (which lies in the system of evaporation per se - as well as cheap refrigerators are indeed constructed) radiating an aura of cold air. And not so much because its evaporation capacity is just very good. I have specially asked him into a corner with the largest heating, but if not even running, even when you are sitting next to you is shivering slightly. The devices with evaporators are of course an advantage. But they then consume the (here) 25 times in power. I'm going to build me (on occasion) to the unit an air duct that all flowing air is blown directly behind the heater. Unfortunately, that is not so easy, because, first, the (cold) air so flowing to both sides on the device, secondly, the unit is not cubic but slightly wedge-shaped, and thirdly at these ribs is not good, a channel is also to install. Well - maybe there is some point in Ventas even a "professional unit" that can be integrated into existing ventilation systems. Or - my suggestion - a "heating device" that is intended directly for standing in front of a radiator. So you can perhaps compensate for the problem with the cold air is best.

Disclaimer: I have not specifically mention that ("Do not try this at home!") These are my personal opinions. My family is very healthy. To sum without fear in aquariums and ponds which are known to be so full of bacteria. The humidifier has never smelled unpleasant or moldy in this mode. --- Addendum for a whole winter:

I have turned off the unit more frequently and then (ultimately by May) "Lost" and already expected to meet me jump creatures, when I open it to the end of winter through. But there was nothing. Something slippery, but no foul smell and also no new mold, so I have to assume that it was an isolated incident in between the mold and was not necessarily to the lack of hygiene. Maybe yes just a child reingekrümelt times. Did it then rinsed and placed in the basement.

Conclusion: A solid enpfehlenswertes device. Looking forward to the next winter ...
