GENERAL
It blew me away. Like the other two album that I bought in the action (London Grammar - "If You Wait", White Lies - "Big TV") can hear through the album in one go. And I mean really every song.
It has already been written often that Kodaline sometimes clearly remember the early Coldplay - that may be true, but for me was only a greater incentive, time to hear this album sample. It will nevertheless introduced also great additional facets (such as "Pray" - sounds like a lament, but with a top text and great instrumentals).
SINGING
Overall, I find the voice of singer Steven Garrigan but truly unique, especially if the effect of this in the various songs perceives (example: from "Pray" to "Way Back When"). In the first words of "Talk" he sounds even like Ryan Tedder, and also flies very fast. In particular, the high tones are simply sung beautifully and I think the whole album gets thereby a round atmosphere and a kind of "optimism" that makes itself at least with me every now and noticeable.
INSTRUMENTALS
The Instrumentals I find it very successful. Sometimes rather reduced, sometimes epic, but - and I find that very important - actually getting on the song development margin so that you realize that a building is there and coordinated text and instrumentals reasonable. In general, these two components fit together easily from style.
RECORD QUALITY, OTHERS
In my opinion, the recording sounds appropriate to the catchy voice Garrigans matched, so that the instruments never rush to the fore, but also support text and instrumentals each other. So here is a good mixer before and it sounds even with all my sources similarly well emphasized - Bass is also available, in my opinion is not important, because music should be fun and not be matched to neutral. Also are more mistakes noticed (clipping or similar), it occurred to me, for example. In "If You Wait" on, there seemed to be the voice of the singer (Reid) to require the electronics too much, there are even on my headphones unfortunately several sound spikes noticeably.
CONCLUSION
The whole album just seems round, provides beautiful mood (s) and provides at me with a tea for great relaxation in the evening and a nice antidote to stressful university life. It is well-produced, has in my view no weak track, I want to push away and can be used both for background music as well as the conscious listening. 5 stars and a recommendation to all those who like the old Coldplay albums and folk and hear an Irish touch in music immediately! ;)
So, that's it and I hope I could possibly still prove one or the other aspect of this album - for pointing out errors, suggestions, tips for writing reviews and Others I like to achieve with the comment function. Are also reviews on "If You Wait" and "Big TV" In the future appear, take a look! :)
