In this CD to me, the decision was particularly difficult, can be found but other than "Personal Mountains" and "so tender" not a single track that is not even on the fantastic "nude ants" - recorded in May 1979 at the Village Vanguard, New York - place.
the mithandelnden persons Jan Garbarek, Palle Danielsson and Jon Christensen are the same ...
ultimately won my curiosity and now am I doing me hard with an assessment. "Nude Ants" is familiar to me for years, known it is not easy because, clueless assess slightly different playing styles.
Here, on this somewhat younger intake is also drums punchier in the foreground mixed, generally the sound quality is better and is a live recording at the highest level. This may be the reason that the whole combo here punchier and more playful 'comes across, is also "Personal Mountains" is a great piece.
I would - any sentimentality Leaving aside - those prospects who are faced with the agony of choice, rather to recommend this album. here you experience the combo at the zenith of their expressiveness and Jarrett has seldom passed so powerful, gruff and played in a positive way "ugly" a whole concert.
seems strange here to just the business policy of ECM. why now raises this old recording on the market? why was not the even then published instead of "nude ants"? perhaps because jazz from the Village Vanguard had a better image than live in Japan?
Perhaps there is just not a new material and you wanted to deliver what again?
why we were these admittedly great shot so long withheld?
therefore deliver a stern and even that one thing that does not necessarily need if you "nude ants" has in the closet.
