You have to let it work ...

Nightwish there have certainly not easy. One has to chuckle downright if you look at the reviews read through ;-). Most see the new work - just like me - a variety of reasons and are super excited. But even with the less or not at all enthusiasts go the reasons far apart: Find a that Nightwish running in place and have nothing innovative to offer more, while others miss the music of the good old days and come up with the lightweight style changes ( that so far the way with each new album compared to its predecessor was) not cope. For some too little metal in it, for some turn too much; some find it compositionally to overcharge, others simple and boring ... etc., etc.
Who it is the band for now do pretty ... * think * ... ???
Of course, do not have to find the album well EVERYONE; so that's just the taste: Each has its own :-). If the justification is for presented objectively and fairly, that's perfectly okay.

For me, "Imaginaerum" - even though it still may sound so cliché - to be exact, in fact, a new masterpiece, the seventh Nightwish masterpiece! I really can particularly single out any of the previous albums, because I find each outstanding for equally.
There is no doubt, however, that one must be acting "Imaginaerum"; to multi-faceted and diverse and different the individual tracks. The band itself has compared the album in advance with a roller coaster ride - and just as I found it! It is literally thrown at the first hearing and afterwards totally amazed at how fast the ride was yet over. So again from the beginning ... and again ... and again .... I have the drive it still does not have quite a few times behind me and I have enough.

In addition, the album is full of surprise:. B. In addition to familiar elements, such in "Storytime", "Ghost River" or "Last Ride of the Day" - all a class of its own - dive on songs that you never believed in Nightwish would have. The wonderful blues-jazz, by Anette ravishing put forward "Slow, Love, Slow" is an example of this. The so wonderfully bizarre and weird "Scaretale" I need the middle part laugh every time, because I see jump in my mind the Leningrad Cowboys together with Genghis Khan on the Kirmesplatz ;-). After repeated listening to this song has emerged as one of my favorites.
Further absolutely brilliant songs are the swing and power full "I Want My Tears Back", the quiet, Anette very emotional sung "Turn Loose The Mermaids", which is also quiet and atmospheric "The Crow, The Owl and the Dove" and, Last but not least, my absolute top favorite "Song of Myself", whose poem in the last part of the song touched me again and again to's new.

From me there is an absolute buy recommendation for all who Nightwish with all its facets always liked to hear, but also open for those who are new and are tolerant. In contrast to listeners who expect pure heavy metal, its probably disappointed. Best get a whiff in the auditions - these provide a very good insight into the songs, I think.
