It is a beautiful learning novel, well researched, well written, with an endearing heroine.
Pauline through his many adventures we learn a lot about the time of life, work day, family, love ... all the ingredients are present for a nice historical novel for youth.
From 12 years.
Comment my daughter, 15, avid reader:
This is a rather romanticized book. For the youngest we realize enough of the time; one is affected by poverty in some neighborhoods and dazzled by the elegance of others. The decor is realistic even if the story of the girl is a little less (unlikely meeting).
It is a book that reads rather well, rather reserved to the college years (11-14). This first novel is the beginning of a series but every book can be read independently of others even if the characters are presented in the book of Pauline.
