Of course that is all mockery! In "Circle of the Oath" was not bound at the ceiling, still cut (I think). This album has just mastered into the ground! The guitar sounds as loud and pushy that you prefer a complete game of the 2010 World Cup (keyword: Vuvuzela) look, as well as to hear only one song of this album. Coupled with the partly distorted, always the same loud singing Gioelis it sounds as fresh from the sawmill. Oh, to "Circle of the Oath" is the sawmill a health resort for hearing!
Since it is quite some relief that Pell's latest coup is musically become a rather weak work. While "Lived Our Lives Before" is simply irrelevant, we are in: dealing with a bona fide Pelleidigung the quoted songs "World of Confusion The Masquerade Ball Pt 2.". After all, Mr. Pell shows "environmentally conscious" and recycled ... his lyrics and chord progressions. It is no wonder that almost all sounds very familiar to this album. That songs like "Ghost in the Black", "Fortunes of War" and "Circle of the Oath" are quite successful, does not help because if they sound so catastrophic.
Total failure, but at least consistent: The previous album "Tales of the Crown" and "Diamonds Unlocked" sounded unpleasantly, the mastering of "The Crest" was extremely marginal and now sends "Circle of the Oath" on, Metallica's "Death Magnetic" replace as largest Audio disaster of all time. Succeeded this is however only partially. Although the guitar sounds cruel and unbearable, but in terms of compression and clipping the metal legends Mr. Pell and his mastering engineer even one step ahead! Maybe it'll work so next time - after the new album "Into the Storm" is already announced for early 2014.
My advice as ARP Fan: Who still does not know Pell, accesses "The Masquerade Ball". Who has heard like, I recommend every album from before 2007, when ARP were not yet so obvious victims of Loudness Wars. And who already has everything from Pell, the purchase instead of "Circle of the Oath" please the great albums of Gioelis band "Hardline".
