40 Plus from a former 2110 max user's perspective So I have used until recently a 2110 max from Navigon. Now I switched to 40 plus (actually exactly the same class, the linear successor). Frightening what Navigon because a serving as a navigation device. The 2110 max was much better, Why? It's simple: The Touch panel is the 40plus cheap before it would respond you have to keep your finger on it long. Also, the touch panel is not going anywhere reasonably equal sensitivity, the annoying. Similarly, the formation of clouds, so that one gets scared, the display is equal to the LCD liquid-free, is cheap and should not show up at a brand unit. The colors, the brightness, the contrast are thus clearly weaker and thus are a severe negative point. But what is the hammer, the negative points of the 2110 max, which was not then technically possible years ago, have remained with the better GPS chip and a better processor but just not better: From Standby, it takes forever minute or two until it navigates (no Sats) Not acceptable by today's standards. If it has something to say, it does not get to where it is already talking. In other words: if it says that there is a traffic incident / a sight with information, it is interrupted with navigation instructions, but as the full coming there from the kick. Instead of setting priorities and in succession to work on and provide no chopping salad, terrible. Tried: Just a ride through Hamburg, to the pier, etc. Reeperbahn past, with navigation on. That is not at all. Nix with succession, all chopped fine. Oh, Navigon comes from Hamburg, Moin Moin guys missed topic. The classic since 2110 max is, as in the 40 Plus: navigation meets TMC traffic information. All this "would" be clean up with a software update, if you will. Only it you will wait in vain.
Why is all this so: The 2110 max (about 220 to 250) was with the first own series, then came a lot of competition in the market, prices fell. Somewhere must save Navigon, the 40 plus costs indeed only 120-150 in the market. For so much money no reasonable Appliances must be. The Navigon and Garmin really can not possibly is coming is a pity, but unfortunately the example when a small company loses ground on a certain important sector of the market. I'm assuming that was at that time as the 40 Plus out other, better hardware (eg displays are definitely other) was sold, as in recent times where you really got to swim, hoping for Garmin as a savior. The tests (here) clearly show a different device than what I hold in my hands. Thus, it was probably the last Navigon device for me (after the expiry of the two year map updates), I had progress and not halt or regress expected. I mourn the 2110 max afterwards. The next time I test prefer and no longer trust in the name alone.
