First of all the positives:
The idea to play a cockroach who is looking for her friend in a post-apocalyptic world, is quite appealing. In addition to the idea itself, most notably the freedom of movement of the character, which can run on walls and ceilings, thus the adventure gives a truly new dimension.
The story is told nicely, the puzzles are basically built meaningful. Initially slightly they quickly reach a Medium weight to challenging levels. Here, the Adventure consistently retains a quirky-quirky touch, as you would expect from Daedelic games.
Now for the but:
But apart from the innovative idea is not doing what the adventure really apart from others.
On the one hand is "Journey of a Roach" Although solid, but not outstanding. If everything else were true, then I would be enough for five stars. But everything else is flawed.
On the one hand there is the mentioned short Time. There are five chapters, the first chapter, which is played out as an introduction to chapter five to ten minutes, counting.
Secondly - and this has given me from the outset across the stomach located (see below) - is "Roach" is not drawn, but animated with a 3D engine (and even if the engine tries to maintain a comic style, so it's a 3D animation and nothing I would describe as "comic"). The game loses the charm of the "hand" and the control is transferred from the Point to Key. With left, right, up, down controlling the cockroach around and remains fast times depend on a corner, missed the doorway and suddenly the wall running high and similar navigation problems (Incidentally, I have no driver's license and do not know how well I can park. .. ;-). That's not bad, but I was annoyed but's. The 3D engine performs with me soon to mild nausea (that really suits me across the stomach) and I have the game finally completely stopped before the short term. The problem has probably not so few others. Since Adventures usually on 3D engines do without (allowed), is one of the reasons I just Adventures Games. But even if one thus has no problems, the animation is quite rudimentary. Without the necessary charm can "Roach" this lack in my view does not make up and thus everything remains patchy in particular only.
CONCLUSION: Basically works "Journey of a Roach" as short midweight Adventure with a funny idea (walls crawling). Cutting back there because of the short season and the simple technical implementation that is due to the small budget without manage to develop a true "indie charm". Also of - except in cutscenes - waiving a signed game in favor of a 3D animated game world could not convince me all in all. So is a BUY recommendation, but definitely not a must-have for lovers Genre.
