My main complaint is that, within each section, photographs are presented without any kind of ranking: you can go from a photo of a Brooklands race in 1934 in a sand racing picture in the US in 1929 then come back a few pages later but at Brooklands in 1930 ... A grouping of pictures, or at least a chronological presentation would have done much for the general understanding.
Finally, a minor remark, the author is English, it speaks tremendously races in England and hunts records by English ... If you are looking for a rich illustration of the first major took French (Le Mans, etc ... ), go your way, photographs can be counted on the fingers of one hand. In addition, the time of the Grand Prix from 1935 to 1939, dominated by the German teams and regarded by many as the most epic era of motorsport, is entitled only to a small half-dozen photos, unfortunately. ..
Despite these shortcomings, the reading of the work remains interesting for the passionate history of motorsport, hence my 4 stars.
