But first the positives:
Featuring:
Undoubtedly FF XII is graphically best game that I have ever seen on the PS2. Gorgeous Models, lovingly detailed cities, buildings, dungeons and landscapes, perfectly animated characters and great textures. All wonderfully rounded passable freely by and beschaubare, huge world with freely adjustable camera.
The control system is also top, just like the sound.
But there earned 2 stars.
The rest is crap.
Battle System: A successful refreshment I thought at the beginning and let the fact first swept under the carpet, that boss fights somehow not made as much impression, because he had never quite the same in the image. Over time, however, it degenerates into a mindless Gegnerklopperei and makes approximately zero fun because you actually just watching, runs to the next opponent, watches, etc. Pretty much everyone would have developed a similar battle system, if, on the PS2 real-time battles directly on the map wanted to realize with more than one person. Only he would probably soon asked the question if all this is not yet a bit bored with the time and would not have changed anything. That's why I'm also in the game for each Chara used only three gambits so that I had at least from time to time what to do.
The characters are all a bunch of lame (except VII Balthier and unsympathetic Ashe) that neither a compelling story, yet an important task in the game and have all could be replaced with a Dummy Doll from crash tests ... I would not even notice. I have played many RPGs, but something I've never experienced.
The story ... is not so politically as many claim. It is just plain boring and is also in the flow of the game also difficult cryptically. No Twists no twists. Told in beautifully laid-out, but dialogverarmten cutscenes - I'm also not a fan of hours of dialogue, but Felt three sentences per story section are simply not enough. A source ripples interesting to himself.
Other innovations such license board, Gambit and co are not exactly the yellow of the egg. Especially with so lax Charas would vll but not have been so stupid to pretend at least one class, so not everyone can get everything right and a little individuality is obtained. The Sphere Grid from FF X was there better than the licensing board. The certain gambits also can be unlocked over time only is not only illogical (why you have to buy sanity ???), but spoiled from the beginning some tactical possibilities. Write out Mobkämpfe as "feature" that borders on embarrassment, which can each MMORPG. If at innovations already missing the innovation ...
Had FF XII been graphically not so good I'd probably be awarded one star, and prefer not. FF XII has disappointed me not only as Final Fantasy, but ever as Rollensspiel. It would not bother me if there would have been no FF, but it was just nothing at all.
