Iron Man (Audio CD)

Customer Review

For too long we have little reports on music as background music in RPG evenings. Following the impetus of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we want to deal with monthly scores of respective films.

It begins with the score for Iron Man. Under the direction of Director Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. from completed in gifted manner starring, the film was promoted in 2008 at an absolute blockbuster.

The story of the unscrupulous arms dealers, billionaire playboy Tony Stark, who finds his true destiny and becomes an avenger was steely, furious and exciting. The rock musical background gave her all they can to make the film a real pleasure.

Appearance Cover / Packaging

Since the MP3 version was discussed, eliminates an evaluation of the packaging. The MP3 encoded with a variable bit rate and ensure even with good ear for comfortable listening. Only very deep bass, of which there are few, appear to be somewhat under control. The normal handset without high-end system is of but little noticed.

Tracks

Individually I now agree to the tracks and try to assess in which scenes they can be used.

01 Driving with the top down

The track gives us a good feeling, what we can expect. Fast-paced, cool actionist elements mingle with non-intrusive electronic sounds. Strings and Winds inferior the euphoric mood. The distorted guitars give an element of coolness in this successful mix. Because breaks prevail in the tempos, the driving rhythm is equalized something. I can imagine the piece well as introduction of a character or NPC, but also to kick off a campaign in a euphoric mood is to be generated.

02 Iron Man (2008 Version)

Swingige sounds carry us in a casual atmosphere, maybe a pool party or reception of the upper ten thousand in a posh hotel. The ideal accompaniment for a dandy on a rampage.

03 Merchant of Death

This track starts, the following titles, with a much darker note, the soon the tight to aggressive metal sounds. By threatening mood, I can imagine this piece well, when it comes to have an antagonist occur.

04 Trinkets To Kill a Prince

The threatening atmosphere is maintained, but joined by elements which will indicate an urgent time component. The gentle staccato strings in the background can have a restorative effect on the voltage. The track builds slowly, gaining intensity and volume. I use this piece of a very happy, when the SC plan or concoct something.

05 Mark I

Without knowing the film, I would expect a significantly martialischeren scene. Here surprise the low level sounds of a sitar, slowly and enticingly penetrate to the ear. However, for it's over in a few seconds. Already Branden Brass and percussion approached us until the piece clearly gaining speed. I could well imagine in a high fantasy setting, as background to a scene where something big, Helping is summoned. A Golem perhaps, the then throws Among Mad roar against their enemies.

06 Fireman

Oh yeah, that's groundbreaking action music! Hard guitar riffs, shrieking strings deposits, with a driving percussion, but slightly different rhythm. Preference is often used by me in steampunk action scenes, but the play is good as well for each actionist scene in modern and postmodern worlds.

07 Vacationss over

After the hectic and threatening sounds of the previous pieces, it will be clearly softer. But again, not missing a certain power in the melancholy sounds. A battle was won, but a friend is down? It's time to tackle things, to look ahead, but without forgetting their roots? Then this piece is very advisable.

08 Golden Egg

Easy disharmonious sound arches fill the room, the pace is very moderate. Tense wait fills the room. Something threatening everyone present is aware. This threat comes in the second half of the piece (possibly only as thinking) always insistent on those assembled to. The piece fits well into many horror Settings, precisely through this secure feeling that something terrible is there.

09 Damn Kid

Now it is again properly chillig a ride in a convertible? A Flirt evening at the hotel bar? Nestled in fashionable bikini lying on the beach and watch good-looking guys in volleyball? Here we are for the right.

10 Mark II

By sweeping and not to the frenetic rhythms, but also the leading Electric Guitars, the piece fits nicely in my imagination to scenes in which preparations are made. The sighting of the destination? The test of a technology? Constructing a machine? Such and similar is served here well.

11 Extra Dry, Extra Olives

The title after I had another excursion into the world of swing and Easy Listening expected. Easy yes, it is true. Unfortunately, this piece is the only one that disappointed me on the score. Much more than quiet Vorsichhergedudel it is not, and a scene to which may suit the piece will not come to mind.

12 Iron Man

The piece is clearly more clarify the decision, from now to be the Iron. It is to be regarded in total as quiet, but is initially able to dissonant elements that can clarify doubts and frustrations. Unfortunately, we have a stark change in the middle of track, which was apparently composed on the scene. At the end suddenly kicks off almost the entire orchestra. This piece is great, but not consistently in an atmosphere therefore unfortunately be used only rarely.

13 Gulmira

The iconic scene, Man attacked the terrorists in the Iron, certainly has a strong patriotic touch for Americans. Nevertheless the piece aroused by innate massiveness almost the desire to use it in a scene that is being fought in the something really big. I could also imagine that the application works in a disaster scenario, with for example, collapsing skyscrapers. Quieter moments to the center can be used to accentuate a patience or mutual Circling.

14 Are Those Bullet Holes?

The track has especially the main theme contemplation. Quiet strings and gentle melodies that do not do without a certain tragedy, to accompany a moment of silence. The heroes are wounded and on the run, a night of rest must have? Someone gets into doubt? Then this is your soundtrack.

15 Section 16

Quiet, eerie sound compositions fill the room. Short moments aufbrandender voltage journeyman should be. Section 16 can be safely compared to a modern vault. So it happens that I like to use this piece to long to accompany abandoned labs pristine dungeons and the like.

16 Iron Monger

It is tempting to use the pieces for a final battle. I confess that it gave me too little Drive. It has its threatening fundamental note, it has its speed, it has the rhythmic percussion that are necessary for it. Nevertheless, I do not use it for that. Where it shines with me so far, were chases over new territory. It has too many changes of tempo, too many short breaks to really pass for a real action piece. I let my mind wander on, do not think of much else, where it would apply to me.

17 Arc Reactor

The basic theme of the previous piece is further addressed here. Now at first the pace remains exist and is enriched by furious, heroic-looking, deposits the strings. The heroic fight for victory can be found here clearly back here again tempo changes to the middle, but bearable just to submerge in the narrative flow. Mir is the scene still fresh in mind, with their short breaks by talking, by hiding behind cover. These fit well. But a structured scene with micro-cuts not found unfortunately in real life the table RPG.

Not considered are the last two pieces of Institutionalized Suicidal Tendencies and the original Iron Man Theme from the 60s.

Emotionality

Many of the pieces reach me emotionally well, but are not furnished throughout to the last detail. Perhaps the composer did not want that, too. Perhaps he had in mind to create an unobtrusive, yet noticeable accompaniment. I have a few pieces of the score in their own evergreen repertoire, especially the pieces 3,4,10 and 17th

Usability

The score is the general theme of the threat of technological superiority, sometimes on their own side, sometimes on the opponent's side. I Extrapolate these first obvious interpretation, I come to a successful combination with several stylistic elements that scores heavily in building tension elements. Speed is not too short in so many tracks, so there is nothing against the use of moderate action scenes. Refreshingly, the few pieces that are more reminiscent of a spy movie.

Disturbing the tempo changes affect in many respects. They may therefore not be used as a guide melody.

Price-performance ratio

I have little to complain about at the price, but one of those who store their MP3s in the cloud and do not want any verstaubenden CD covers more at home. It is interesting to know at the point that Amazon is now offering the so-called AutoRip. If you buy a CD from Amazon, you get the MP3 for free.

Conclusion

The score for the first Iron Man movie has me as a soundtrack for the film very enthusiastic. Many tracks are composed on the exact second the scene and therefore act well. At the table, however, both the places short playing time and the tempo changes affect disturbing.

The undisputed highlight of the score is the opener Driving with the top down. No other piece reaches this class. But for use at the table, it does not need breakers like this. Here pieces required by uniform atmosphere and pace. Some bring with this, other conspicuous by their wonderful mood change, who want to be scheduled but.

Four tracks belong to my repertoire to steady accompaniment, others I use rarely. On the whole, the album is a feast for the ears.

I therefore speak from a recommendation with reservation.
