In my view, the real plus of this book lies mainly in its main characters. Forward, of course, Avry has donated these hated and hounded healers. But beware, it lacks neither courage nor desire. She is a survivor and is independent. Just then, Kerrick. Proud, cold and frankly authoritarian, nobody could replace him at the head of this unusual company. Moreover, between him and his "guest", their journey is not lacking in spice. Then, strangely, the one that also seems important to me is Belen. He stands here as the ancient oak tree that will not move. He embodies loyalty, patience and safety. I do not know, the story would lose without him probably a charming part. As for the rest of the characters, I am less enthusiastic. I'd love to hate someone like Tohon, hope its decadence, yet, in reality, as Estrid, it lacks substance. Yes, we understand, is the villain, but for me it remains too superficial to fully understand the dark side of these two. This is my little regret that apply also to others as the sister of Avry or air mage.
Conclusion It is a first volume that without placing in the top 10 of the best books arouses enough curiosity and interest to attack the second. Despite the rest, the emphasis in Avry and Kerrick, a pity that the end is a little fast and does not leave us time to really enjoy the course of events.
