A film cultures, myths and facts, adventure, horror and fantasy ascends in a so large dimensions, you need a score, which combines all of these elements and the audience (or rather audience) with this a magical journey takes ... ,
An opulent score, which leaves nothing to be desired ....
None other than the great Jerry Goldsmith should here swinging the spring - and out came a gem of score.
At this point I have to (again) thanks to my buddy "RichieGennaro" who has played me this gem of score far ahead of German cinema release of the film and thus has made me more than hot on the film.
Jerry's score not only creates a bridge between the Arab and Scandinavian culture, in which he masterfully mixes the musical characteristics, thus creating almost its own sound universe.
Even more - it gives the film the opulent musical framework that such a strip just earned.
It is not wrong to say that without this score would be this film only half as good - it catapulted him simply in the upper class of the genre!
Recorded with a full orchestra and choir and consistently melodic (even in the moments of tension, where the score gets a gloomy note), great arranged and recorded.
And of course you recognize the master of the melody and the instrumentation - it takes only a couple of bars to be able to say: This is a Goldsmith!
Those who love the big sound for adventure and fantasy films, comes to this score simply not around!
Anyone who has seen the "The 13th Warrior", know what I'm talking about!
In my opinion, this score belongs in every well-stocked Soundtrack Collection!
An absolute recommendation!
