Important for most scores is a catchy main theme that captures the essence of a movie. This creates Howard wonderfully with "My Name Is Robert Neville," is inserted into the said main theme. A tragic melody, but also carries a little hope.
There are percussion, discreet inserts the choir and also massive horror elements.
"Darkseeker Dogs" and "The Jagged Edge" are good examples and likely for many a little out of the score. But these sites are part of the film and also the music and watch the gloomy end time atmosphere.
But Howard focuses again mainly on the emotions and feeling. He builds each piece into a dynamic one, to beautiful orchestrations. Especially the final "Reunited" is a good example of how the voltage Howard ever builds up and can fully phased out towards the end. And in "IZM Sorry" and "Epilogue" he fails to do just finish great, as it began to score, the haunting use of the main theme in several variations.
And so fly 45 minutes of music incredibly fast.
Not only fans of James Newton Howard can access safely. A soundtrack that has everything and always fascinated, no matter how many times you hear it. Few can so many emotions alone produce with music as JNH.
