Thoughtful, atmospheric, strange and somehow lost. They were so rude my thoughts have come to me while listening, and they reflect very well for me the character of Michael Clayton again. A man who does not know exactly who he is, and what path he has taken. Very sparse electro sounds accompanied by some places on the piano create here a great melancholic mood and the images look very good here.
The music is very present though never intrusive. On issues is almost entirely dispensed with, which would not fit well in this musical environment.
Only at the end of the score is something organic and gives the orchestra a little space.
Anyone looking for a quiet, contemplative soundtrack-atmosphaere's right here in any case. For his courage for a change can only congratulate Mr Howard. The Oscar Nominerung may be unusual at first glance, but I can totally understand, hardly a score could have supported the film better and that's the point.
