Customer Review

The time of great Disney orchestral soundtracks seemed almost forgotten. More than 10 years have passed since the James Newton Howard has created wonderful large orchestral music for Disney movies like Atlantis and Treasure Planet, full of life and inspiration. Two years ago, with Snow White and the Huntsman, he managed a similar soundtrack with great themes and a massive sound. For a movie like Maleficent the composer seemed the perfect choice and the result is impressive.

The album opens up the Maleficent Suite, specially composed for the album shows they Around 7 minutes what the listener expects. As is customary for Howard, he creates many topics and builds his music to this on. A first Dark trombone theme is heard at the very beginning. A wordless female chorus intones the second theme, which continues to build up and then open into a grandiose action Passage. A great start.

Welcome to the Moors is a lightweight typical Disney-like piece live full and swirling strings and choir. Maleficent Flies is a perfect and amazing piece of music, one of the best of the composer. It begins rather restrained, then builds up with a women's choir continues on and then goes into the subject of Maleficent. The theme is bursting full of life and hope, at the same time adventure and mad energy, already the album has convinced me.

Battle of the Moors then brings action how it is used by artists, dynamic, powerful but still melodic. Fans of soundtracks like King Kong will fully get their costs. In Go Away for the first time is a piano in the music and a marriage fits perfectly into the sound in The Christening both melodic and hard sounds dominate, also a great track. Prince Phillip introduces a more Medieval metallic theme on the harp, which will also be taken up later.

The Spindles Power attack the female choir theme again, coupled with gloomy sounds and then again to be directly peacefully with You could live here now. Howard relies on a solo which is very nice to his soundtrack to the film The Village remembered, only a lot positiver.Aurora in Faerieland opens with a beautiful piano solo and does not go back on later in the Maleficent theme, this time much more discreet and less Nice.

After a few long great pieces that address always themes and motifs, it is with Phillips Kiss very emotional. Phillips theme mixed with piano is only surpassed by the even more beautiful True Loves Kiss. Maleficent is Captured is almost the highlight of the album. Grandiose action over more than seven minutes, combined with all the major theme of the album, fantastic and incredibly energetic. The Queen of Faerieland closes the album on a very positive and melodic.

The song by Lana Del Rey is certainly a matter of taste, I like it well. It fits in well with the music and remains in your ear, fits perfectly.

Conclusion: A great from start to finish soundtrack, fantastic themes varied from light to very dark, emotional and powerful in sound. For years I have waited for such a score by James Newton Howard and it shows what a terrific things still stuck in it.
