At first listen, the music grabbed me from the very first piece of! Especially the beautiful "Prologue" - is subject enchanting. I'm always surprised that Howard score for each creates its own character, so here also. The wonderful female voices make this work like a fantasy fairy tale for children appear, but that nevertheless contains something mystical and menacing.
There are many small or larger pieces, all fascinating in their own way. For example, the mysterious and exciting "The Party". Or in "Ripples In The Pool" is a very beautiful theme created, but the suffering only in the "End Titles" will be taken up again. Particularly great is "The Healing": a four-minute calm and harmonious piece that sounded the main theme in a wonderful variation leaves.
For me, however, is the play "The Great Eatlon" the musical highlight, as it Williams would not have done better! What with "Signs" already worked with "Hand of Fate I" has taken here. The music builds more and more, until it seems virtually explode and then flourish in their wonderful main theme (and a stunner!) Verschlägt and a breath! Indescribable! In a review I've read that this is a musical orgasm and it's true anyway, because here we experience film score by stunning side!
In the gentle "End Titles" this small but wonderful work sounds of calm ...
The songs are a matter of taste and also bothered me a little. I would have preferred more by score, but ok ...
For me, a further proof that JNH is one of the greats and the hope remains for a long time. "Lady in the Water" is again a soundtrack with 100% feeling. The film is unfortunately a total letdown, but Howard has taken out this optical nonsense nevertheless a charming piece of film music. And that should not be missed!
