Notes From A Small Iceland (Paperback)

Customer Review

Bill Bryson describes in his "Notes from a schmall Iceland" his impressions of his tour of the UK so richly anecdotal and personal, that it's a pleasure. The reader is more than 29 stations, as it brought in a country where Bryson years his family lived and worked, and that he, as it turns out in its reports, has come to love with all its oddities and peculiarities. Not without ironic swipes based on his American compatriots granted Bryson insight into the British Travel Culture - Bed and Breakfast with partially familiar charm - and in British architectural wonders. Which he contrasts sharply spoil between ancient cathedrals and dingy 60s buildings, the city pictures. The reader experiences a journey through the world of "splendid isolation" off the beaten tourist track and a heartwarming sense of humor and sarcasm. Just makes for a fascinating read travel individualists who are keen on and ready for the island.
