The alarm clock reached me consuming packaged: In a plastic bag, so bubble wrap, and the whole thing in a cardboard box with quick reference guides in different languages. Maybe not so good for the environment, but good for a smooth delivery.
On the back of the clock there are three small buttons and a dial. In addition, there are the little crevices for the beeper and of course the battery compartment. For me, the battery cover is secure by the way, as the two required AA batteries, which are not the way included.
With the setting the alarm time is set - how the way it is known - against the clock. So easily. The three buttons:
- Reset: Press and hold to restart the device with self-test; Take out the principle as batteries; was with me but have never needed
- REC: Receive; Press and hold to make reset the time again and received new
- M.SET: Manual Set; hold down to set the time manually can - press and hold it, and the hands move forward - press briefly to present the minutes individually - ready. Once reception is available, the time is, however, immediately overwritten automatically!
On top of the device is also a very big key; Pressing this, goes to the light for five seconds. And this light has really something! This is a blue LED lighting that illuminates all around the whole dial, similar to the car cockpit. Looks very good! The size of the key toggles the lighting course quickly once accidentally when handled with the device. But I do not think that this is great affect battery life.
The large button above solves incidentally, the snooze function (Snooze). Generally, the alarm will beep for two minutes, but then turns off until the next day if you do not mind. Pressing the snooze button, is five minutes' rest; then it starts again. Up to seven times you can press snooze succession.
With an admittedly somewhat unhappy mounted switch on the side of the device, you can enable / disable the alarm. The switch is a bit too small and a bit stiff. For my part, however, can live with it.
Additional special features:
- Pressing the button M.SET on the rear panel shortly, you can switch the display of the small digital display at "Six Clock": Displays the seconds in digital form, displaying the current temperature or display of the date
- Short press REC on the rear panel switches to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit. In addition, the date format between day / month and month / day can be switched.
The device is actually very quiet in my opinion. My old Braun alarm clock from the 80s is a thousand times louder. The new radio alarm clock TFA I hear not practical.
Commissioning:
After inserting the two AA batteries (AA, not included!) The alarm will beep once and the small display shows all available elements (self-test). After the hands move again all around. Now begins the search for the radio signal. This shows a tiny flashing antenna in the upper left corner of the small digital display. I noticed this little antenna until much later, they can be overlooked easily! By pressing a button the back of the device, you break the search down, so be careful and be patient please ;-) The search can take up to twelve minutes. After that appear at the same place a larger antenna to signal its readiness to receive, and the correct time is set.
Should not appear antenna and start time twelve clock to run, simply press and hold three-second REC and wait for the complete process again. Otherwise, the time is also updated so every two hours.
My impression so far of this unit is in any case extremely well! I think that for this price also can not expect more. The radio alarm clock I would buy again at any time. Therefore, I forgive the full five stars.
By the way does this alarm clock with lithium batteries. I have two Energizer Ultimate Lithium it.
