Energy 2050: New Challenges and false hopes (Paperback)

Customer Review

This book presents methodologically energy state of our planet and our societies.
We guess the scientific rigor of the author when addressing energy concepts. Especially the chapter on nuclear energy that makes us go (too) deep in detail.
The rest is disappointing, with an overall imbalance of the book.
This finally proves to be an apology of nuclear, with absolutely delirious development plans (EPR 50 in 2040 !!!), together with against-truths: France has two nuclear accidents (level 4) on 5 listed in the world after Fukushima, Chernobyl and Three Mile Island.
Nuclear power is presented as the only viable alternative currently. In reality, if nuclear fusion may represent a promising solution, it is only in a century that one could hope its earnings.
The problem to solve is now, which is not sufficiently emphasized by the use of low-carbon and renewable energy, competitive now and will be more and more.
