Delivery was on time and the packaging terrible (the hard plastic). The unit itself was ready in a short time. It is nice that batteries are. The functions are self-explanatory. On the functions (longitude, area-, volume measurement) I do not want to go into detail, since these have already been described.
There is a digital height rod. Accuracy can I judge only from my test measurements out and they are very positive!
I have compared with the meter rule (missing me, unfortunately, access to the standard meter), have compared with a tape measure and last with a metal tape measure. The problem: All reference devices have too much tolerance ;-). However, the first results are perfect!
To measure a space is super fast and has a much higher accuracy than the above mentioned "estimated iron".
The rooms - our living room, the hallway, the kitchen and the toilet - were "Ruck Zuck" presumptuous. For the living room I needed just 30 seconds. With the meter stick just 4 minutes. Ok, our living room is cluttered and there you have to look already, as you put the meter stick. In addition, the issue with the skirting boards, since the meter stick goes up.
To be safe, the rooms were repeatedly measured. The tolerances in the classic warning devices significantly higher. Ex. The length of our living room varied based on 10m by up to 1.0 cm (makes 10% inaccuracy). The PLR25 had even after repeated measuring always the same result - to the nearest millimeter.
Important: You must always measure at the same location. Who can attaches the PLR25 eg on the wall simply by getting variations, because the wall is not 100% vertical. in our example, between floor and ceiling approx 1.5cm length difference.
As another reference, I then measured boards. Since I assume that the finished sections of OBI and Co all have the same length, the measurement should already show here which device is better: So board placed on the workbench, front and rear Two boards measured as a stop and. Again the PLR25 is fast and reliable.
So all in all a convincing unit that is quick to use and reliable measures.
Then why only 1 star?
That's the thing with the tiny story. It is the display, not the accuracy, but the display.
The actual display is framed with a green color. Unfortunately, a part of the display is covered by the green frame so that the numbers are not the right way round (see my picture). Now, if I have to work even under adverse light conditions because the PLR25 has no lighting, I expect that the display is easy to read. If you're thinking that I'm picky, which is me, perhaps understood by the following example.
I surveyed the hall in the basement. This is not super illuminated. Measured length, measured width, measure the angle and listed on a piece of paper.
Then to the computer and with SketchUp (a kind of CAD software) designed the hall. Suddenly I notes that the hall did not let rebuild. He was wrong, and some sites were too short. Ok, I thought, because you have measured you. So once again the extent incorporated into the basement and again.
Started again to the computer and again to draw ... and what can I say, once again did not fit the dimensions. Funnily enough: it was exactly the same for short measurements. Ie, the measurement was as such as the first.
Then it struck me: In the upper part of the display, which displays the information in small font size, the numbers are cut. Thus, from a 7 a 1. 1 consists of two vertical bars (see my Image 1 of 1,467 m) and 7 of two vertical and one horizontal line above.
In short, from 1.700m 1.100m were ... so read the.
Put six!
The unit may still so great measure, but the screen is for the garbage. The problem: If I now the PLR25 so inclined that I almost can not see behind the screen, to a light and b) reflects) the LCD display appear darker and reading becomes more severe.
Whoever thinks that I have a visual problem, I can reassure the extent that two subjects have fallen by the test.
So dear Bosch. When I learned about 30 years ago with you and also after that was active in the development, there were different standards of product quality. Me the Head of Department had asked for as a display in the corner. Whether a green or blue product.
I'll sometimes can not help feeling that Bosch exerts on the green equipment and then brings the blue the perfect Produte on the market.
In summary: device back, invested 40 euros more and put the Blue. Advantage: Super display and also an inclinometer.
Right at the end I have to get rid of what is now still. I called customer service at Bosch. Here I was sooooo carefully confirmed the problem. Moreover, the Lord has taken care of nice and friendly to my problem. Furthermore, I still get a great advice.
That's one reason why I end up at Bosch again ... mostly at the blue devices: The service is just great and so I get finally a good overall package.
However, for the PLR25: That was nothing!
