Zoot Sims is a musician underestimated. Perhaps because when he plays this sounds easy, yet he shows great inventiveness in all these solos. He has the experience of a professional musician age of 15 (in 1940). This is one of Woody Herman brothers. It is here in concert in Copenhagen in August 1978, where it burn a disc removed to climate, yet showing all his improvisational talents. It is surrounded, supported, propelled by the likes of Kenny Drew on piano (can be seen also in a great concert in 1992, At the Brewhouse), NHO Pedersen on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums (drummer for a long time Oscar Peterson). A good and very beautiful concert in delivering us nine jazz standards like "Groovin 'High," "All the Things You Are" and "It's All Right With Me". PS: There is an audiophile version with 6 identical pieces and additional 5 Zoot Sims in Copenhagen. Recently the firm has published in Gambit 2 CD Complete the entire concert Live Recordings.
