Agnes Obel makes it to "Philharmonics" with originality and sparse instrumentation build lyrical, intense pieces. In addition to her girlish voice, she is counting on fuel-efficient, relatively simple piano accompaniment, optionally accompanied by a harp, guitar or a few other instruments. This has been going on CD1 very well and convinces even in the live sessions on CD 2. 2 female voices, 1 piano, 1 cello. Obel not require more effort. Suffice As with Satie also with her easiest structures to weave a dense network of wonderful soundscapes. The atmosphere is cheerful and slightly melancholic, slightly quirky lyrics and Obels Danish accent give the work additional charm. The Piano Sessions on CD 2 are not particularly original, but with repeated listening comes here the structure of some of their waltz out quite well. Overall, a remarkable work.
